Scouting Report: Nash will be called upon this
season to play a significant amount of time at the 3 position. In addition
to that, he will be called upon as a defensive stopper. Nash showed
flashes of athleticism his freshman season, and not much else. His shot
selection was poor. Nash reminds me as a young Nick Bradford.
A great leaper
Played inside his entire high school career, but will step out on the
perimeter at Kansas
Will likely see time at both the small and power forward spots
Has a knack for offensive rebounding
Owns long arms which are an asset to his perimeter defense
Possesses three-point shooting range
Should be effective both in the paint and from outside
Draws comparisons to former Oklahoma State standout Desmond Mason
High School
Turner High School, 2000... A four-year letterwinner in basketball
and a two-year letterwinner in track... Averaged 15 points, 10 rebounds
and four blocks per game... Scored 324 points his senior year on the
hardwood... Broke his high school triple jump record four times... Led
Turner to a 25-8 record and a second-place finish in the district his
senior year... Named first team all-district in both his junior and senior
seasons, in a district which sent 11 players to NCAA Division I schools in
that time frame... Earned all-region and all-Metrocrest honors in his
senior campaign... A McDonald's High School All-American nominee.
Personal
Recruited early by Florida and Texas A&M, and eventually chose
Kansas over Memphis... Coached in high school by Mark Bishop... Joins Luke
Axtell and Mario Kinsey to form a trio of Jayhawks from Texas on the
roster this season... Entered into an elite group by choosing the number
15, as he joins former Jayhawks Kerry Boagni, Ray Evans, Bud Stallworth
and Jo Jo White.
