Scouting Report
A 6-0 point guard who played surprising minutes for a walk-on late
last season. Ballard plays with his heart on his sleeve and makes the most
of his basketball ability. He brings energy to the team along with
an occasional three pointer. His lack of quickness is often
exploited on the defensive end of the floor. Ballard will see his minutes
decrease drastically this season with the arrival of 3 freshman guards and
the return of Hinrich and Boschee.
Junior College
Freshman year played at Cowley (Kan.) Community College, starting 30 games
as a rookie... Transferred to Hutchinson (Kan.) Community College for his
sophomore year... Averaged nine points and six assists per game for the
Blue Dragons... Named an Academic All-American at Hutch... Missed the
first eight games of 1999-00 due to a dislocated toe.
High School
Hutchinson High School (1998)... Named first-team all-Ark Valley,
all-Southwest Kansas and honorable mention All-State as a junior and
senior... Averaged 16 points and five assists per game as a senior...
Holds the school single-season three point record.

An education major, Ballard plans to teach and coach following
